Setup and Configuration: Connection Settings

Granting access to the system for a new mobile device

1. Accessing Gateway device management

Log on to your Confluence instance as an administrator.

Navigate to the “Connection settings” menu item under the “Linchpin Mobile” category and click on the “Device management” tab.

2. Select the user to add a new mobile device for

In the “User” input field, enter the person’s name you intend to add a new mobile device for. Select the user by clicking on the corresponding entry in the popup list.

Please note: You can also generate login QR codes when not connecting via the Linchpin Mobile Gateway. When providing users with those non-Gateway QR codes, they need to enter their password in order to log in with the app on their mobile devices. You can check for the type of QR code generated by clicking info next to the “Generate QR code” button. If you intend to generate QR codes for the Linchpin Mobile Gateway but it doesn’t show in the tooltip please check your Gateway connection by visiting the “Linchpin Mobile Gateway” tab.

3. Generate a login QR code

After selecting the user to register a new mobile device for you can generate a login QR code by clicking “Generate QR code”.

The user can then scan the QR code with the mobile app or you can right-click and save the QR code image in order to provide it to the user via other communication channels (e.g., email).

Please note: Each login QR code for use with the Linchpin Mobile Gateway is only valid for one login on one mobile device and thus automatically gets invalidated after the first successful scan. Also, each login QR code is only valid for 24 hours from the time of generation.
